Shelton gallery to feature Griffin’s work in its “Man or Machine” exhibit Oct. 28 through mid-December
OLYMPIA, Wash. (Oct. 23, 2023) - Olympia-based artist Susie Griffin will have 10 images, consisting of eight originals and two giclee reproductions, featured in the “Man or Machine” show Oct. 28-Dec. 10 at the Museum Contempo in Shelton. In all, more than 50 local artists will have their work displayed during the month-long show.
“I am thrilled to bring my brand of artistry to the Pacific Northwest, offering new ways to find inspiration from the changing world around us,” Griffin said. “My art has been embraced internationally and I am hoping to engage local patrons in my vision and the contemporary mediums and methods I use. I cannot thank Andrea enough for opening her doors to me and other local artists to showcase our talents over the holiday season.”
Griffin and another local artist, Jim West, will be featured speakers at the event. They will discuss the influence of technology, specifically machines, in current culture and the varied human emotional responses to them on opening night, Oct. 28, 4-7 p.m.
“Susie Griffin is a rare delight. Her talent is only exceeded by her charm and creative mind,” said Andrea Mastrangelo, owner and gallery director of Museum Contempo, and glass artist. “I chose her as our main featured artist for the upcoming ‘Man or Machine’ exhibit because of her stunning textural works. I'm lucky to exhibit some originals. She is also my speaker for the program due to her understanding that our need to coexist with the machine in this technological world is relevant and her message to us all is hopeful. I’m proud to have the work of Susie Griffin on the walls of my Museum Contempo.”
Griffin currently has reproductions on display at Dancing Goats coffee shop in downtown Olympia through October. While she has international clients and has shown her art in other U.S. galleries, Museum Contempo will be her first gallery show in Washington since moving to the area in 2015.
