DetailsThis is a quality reproduction print of Susie Griffin's original artwork entitled "Social Media."
This original acrylic painting was created on a live social media feed. The audience participated by submitting their perspective of how social media has affected them (good or bad). These words were written on the canvas and then completely painted over in a layerist style.
The female model was created using social media beauty filters. She stands softly defiant, caught in a love/hate relationship with social media. Her hair is made of the ocean waves and lotus flowers adorn her crown, symbolizing the natural beauty and order that is her birthright. She is caressed and held firmly by the relationships formed through social media.
The left hand at represents digital technology. It touches her lips to represent both the way it compels her to speak and alternately quiets or shapes her voice. The finger represents the way it points her to learn, to grow, and also has the ability to "point a finger" at anything and everything. The right hand represents industry and the churning amount of social media that pour out almost mechanically without end. There is an ever present fear and thrill at being caught up in the gears of this machine. The three dots on the ring finger symbolize the way that she is now wed to social media, for better or for worse. The burned through acrylic splotches on the arm represent the eyes that are ever watching.
The final image is painted in a gritty style: sketched inked lines and splashes that are partially visible represent the hasty and imperfect way content is produced and then subsequently filtered.
This image is printed on high quality luster finish paper with archival inks that will hold their color for nearly 100 years. The image size you choose will have a small 1/4" internal white border perfect for framing. Cropping may occur at some print sizes. The watermark will be absent in the print you receive.
